If you haven't hooked into the Houston SharePoint User Group, please do! It is well worth your time and a great way to network with people. Here is the info for the June meeting:

Houston SharePoint User Group

When companies make the move to rollout a tool as robust and full-featured as SharePoint 2007, simply installing the product, handing over a URL, and saying "okay, go play with it" is rarely enough. The goal of every business that implements SharePoint is to utilize the immense amount of power that it can bring to bear in the organization. Without proper governance, SharePoint features and technologies can get out of control. A balance must be struck between no governance - large-scale adoption with no ability to manage it, and heavy governance - low-to-no adoption with complete control.

On June 20th, guest speaker Jim O'Brien from Catapult Systems will discuss governance as it applies to SharePoint 2007 implementations.

DIRECTIONS
I heard from a few people that the map link did not work correctly for them for the past meeting, so here are directions:

From the West Sam Houston Tollway, exit Briar Forest Drive. From northbound, u-turn under the tollway, from southbound, continue straight through the Briar Forest intersection. The building is on the west side of the tollway.
Immediately after the intersection will be a sign for the Visitor entrance for 2000 W. Sam Houston Parkway. Turn right at the sign, then right into the covered parking garage.
Bring your parking ticket with you to the meeting to have it validated.
Check in a the security desk, the guard has to escort you to the elevator so you can get to the Microsoft floor.

Houston SharePoint User Group - 1st Meeting!

A SharePoint User Group is starting in Houston! I am really excited... this is a great opportunity for all of the SharePoint professionals in and around town to get together and share information, ideas and resources. If you are at all in or near the area, I highly recommend you try to make it!

More details will follow, but please mark your calendars for March 21st. Time and location will be announced soon.
