I've got who's-its and what's-its galore
You want thing-a-mabobs?
I've got twenty
But who cares? No big deal. I want more…

Is it just me, or has the blogsphere been inundated with blog gizmos? And they are all cool.

Today from Scoble I learned about TagCloud, and from Mark Kruger about Google Base.   Earlier this week it was Google Analytics and Feedblitz email subscriptions.

Let’s see, golden oldies are Google AdSense, Amazon Associates, Technorati and feed reader counters. Not to mention countless more things I probably haven't even discovered yet.

We have more gadgets than we know what to do with!  Too bad they are all so cool…. But do we run the risk of over gadgetizing our sites?   Are we going to cover them up with too much junk that users can’t see through it all?  Are they just cool tools that we think are neat but no one else gives a damn when visiting our sites?

For all you nerds without kids, or at least without little girls, that quote above is from Ariel in Disney’s The Little Mermaid.  In the end all she ends up with is a set of nice looking legs.  I guess you could say she went back to the basics.  We may all end up that way as well.
